Instead, you pick up your FLUTE from your desk. Had your kind abstratus not been woodwindKind, this would have been a problem. It isn't. You don't have time to mess around with that kind of thing, anyway.

You adjust the instrument in your hands, and take a magnificent running leap as you give the cruxtruder a hearty whack.

Surprisingly, this works. You had underestimated the force dealt by your poor, abused musical instrument of choice. You like to think that it displays no true scars than the ones of love. Something along those lines, anyway. But you get yourself back on track and extrude the lovely green cruxite dowel.

OA: One of the resources I have suggests that it might help to try prototyping the sprite with, uh...

You'll have to add this to your collection of random knowledge. You see a green Cruxite dowel pop out and a kernelsprite of the same color. The flashing of the kernelsprite makes your dinosaur of a laptop work even slower than usual, so you have to adjust the screen so it isn't in view.

The kernelsprite is prototyped with the stuffed frog, and now it's talking symbols at you. This is extraordinarily silly. You wonder what the point is.

You manage to combine an old SILVER PIERCING you sometimes wear with the husktop, making a SILVER HUSKSET. You also add a dowel with the harpoon gun, making a lovely FUSCHIA HARPOON GUN. You wonder if you should do more shot, but then decide you got anxious without killing anything, and go kill more things.

You do as told, then clamp said dowel in the thankfully nearby totem lathe. You also obtain the PRE-PUNCHED CARD, which you pop into the slot.

It sure is easier to figure this stuff out after seeing how your friends got in.

The totem lathe carves a totem, which you captchalogue before moving swiftly to the alchemiter. The sprite follows you.

The sprite appears to be extremely attracted to the remains of your obliterated blown up spontaneously combusted really really dead deceased ferret from so long ago. AMA must have got it from somewhere, all those years ago. Probably thought it'd be more exotic than something like a cat.

Upon closer examination, it is indeed a rock. Kind of greenish and smooth, too. It's still really, really boring. As far as entry items go, it's a disappointment. Not that you have much experience with entry items.

You're feeling ever so awkward about the impending battles, so you turn your attention to the alchemiter again and whip up some hopefully useful stuff.

You also step outside to practice dispatching the imps. They are surprisingly incompetent.

You make the CAST-IRON FRYING PANFLUTE. This in no way resembles a pan flute. You make a face expressing your deep and complex irritation at the trade-off between practicality and occasionally hilarious punnery.

But whatever this thing is, it looks slightly less vulnerable than your old FLUTE. Surely, this trusty new weapon will last you through many a battle. Also, you used a no-stick pan, so there's no question of the blood of your enemies messing up the lovely surface of the flute. It'll just roll right off. That is totally what it means.

You make the HAT-TOP SOUVENIR EXTRAVAGANZA. This thing is more than spiffy. You sure are going to be communicating with style.

You get to work stacking bits of hive and things on top of each other towards the first gate. Orcina's gotten a decent amount of grist with that harpoon gun of hers.

You realize this hive is becoming increasingly unrecognizable. At least it's stable. You really, really hope Orcina doesn't freak out when she sees.
